Process safety management (PSM) is a key business objective for all oil and gas operating companies to ensure management of hazards and ultimately avoid major accidents. IQPC’s Annual Process Safety Management Week will run again this year in Abu Dhabi from 30 September - 4 October 2012, however this year is going to be different:
PSM needs to be integrated into all areas of design, management and operation of equipment to avoid a major disaster. Successful execution of PSM implementation should eliminate the possibility of multiple failures; major disasters are rarely caused by a single failure, but are a result of multiple malfunctions without correct processes in place.
Key performance indicators and metrics are crucial for monitoring and measuring operating systems and processes handling hazardous substances to ensure early detection of risks. Functional and operational PSM is currently a key focus in the Middle East as PSM is only as effective as the day to day operability of the systems, software and procedures.
The 4th Annual Process Safety Management Week will be addressing key PSM implementation challenges and how to overcome them through incident case studies. The summit will also focus on functional and operational PSM, leading and lagging indicators, key regulation updates and new softwares and systems which can enhance your PSM programme.
This year’s summit will bring together regional and international operating companies from the following departments:
The event presents a great opportunity to share learning across the industry and an opportunity to network with fellow professionals D. Jenkins, Upstream HSE Director, TNK-BP
The summit delivered an excellent update on PSM and gave a comprehensive image on the oil and gas industry’s process safety status for future moves Tasser Abdelaal, Control Team Leader, Borouge
Excellent group of safety experts in one venue J.W. Noorloos, Safety Consultant, Honeywell
This summit provided a global platform to share best practices on PSM to make the world safer. Great job IQPC!! Jigar Shah, Services leader, Invensys Middle East
